The Spaniard Gervasio Gallardo is known for his prolific surrealist paintings and book covers. Gallardo was commissioned by Ballantine Books in 1969 to create the cover art for their Ballantine Adult Fantasy Series. In the mid 1960's Gallardo travelled to the United States where he met Frank and Jess Lavaty, who represent his work to this day. Gallardos paintings plunge the viewer into the murky realm of dream, where quirky domestic scenarios are juxtaposed with phantasmagorical-fanciful happenings.
